Eduskunta and Riigikogu hold a joint seminar to celebrate the centenary of Estonia

Riigikogu, the Parliament of Estonia, and Eduskunta, the Parliament of Finland, hold a joint seminar in Helsinki today to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. The seminar will be opened by Speaker of the Eduskunta Paula Risikko and President of the Riigikogu Eiki Nestor.

The joint seminar in Helsinki is also attended by Vice-President of the Riigikogu Kalle Laanet, Chairman of the Estonia-Finland Parliamentary Group Kalle Palling, and members of the Parliamentary Group Urve Tiidus, Barbi Pilvre, Henn Põlluaas, Meelis Mälberg, Heljo Pikhof, Dmitri Dmitrijev, Heidy Purga and Marko Pomerants.

At the seminar, Finnish historian, Professor Seppo Zetterberg and Ambassador of Estonia to Finland Harri Tiido will present reports on the common history of Estonia and Finland, and their parliamentary relations.

Former Ambassador of Finland to Estonia Kirsti Narinen, who now heads the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, and Director of the Estonian Foreign Policy Institute Kristi Raik will speak about the close cooperation between the two countries.

Chair of the Eduskunta's friendship group with Estonia Krista Kiuru and Deputy Chair of the friendship group Mikko Savola will participate in the discussion of the members of parliament on the cooperation of the two countries. An exhibition on the history of Estonia can be seen in the lobby of Eduskunta.
