The Parliament rejected a citizen’s initiative related to legalising euthanasia

On 4 May, the Parliament rejected a citizen’s initiative related to legalising euthanasia in Finland. Instead, the Parliament accepted a resolution according to which it insists that the Government appoints a broad-based expert working group to investigate the regulation needs connected with terminal care and euthanasia.

The Parliament also insists that, where necessary, the Government provides the Parliament with proposals for amendments to the legislation based on the investigations.
